Microneedling with PRP or PRF

MICRONEEDLING AND PRF

Microneedling with PRF (platelet rich fibrin) is the gold standard in natural skin rejuvenation. This advanced skin care treatment combines collagen induction therapy (Microneedling) with Platelet Rich Fibrin. Microneedling with PRF is a popular choice for improving skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, brown spots, acne scars, under eye bags, and dull, tired looking skin. Microneedling with PRF is FDA cleared and scientifically proven¹ to rejuvenate the skin on several levels by stimulating cell renewal and the triggering the production of collagen and elastin. Treatments are non-invasive, quick, comfortable, and require little recovery time. This makes Microneedling with PRF a great solution for anyone who wants to look younger and improve the appearance of his or her skin without surgery or downtime.

Help your skin rejuvenate itself with Microneedling from Delayna Denaye Aesthetics.

HOW DOES MICRO NEEDLING WORK?

Micro Needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, rejuvenates the skin by harnessing the body’s natural rejuvenation abilities in a process known as controlled wound healing. During a Micro Needling procedure, a SkinPen, containing small, medical grade needles is gently rolled over the treatment area, creating small punctures in the skin, known as micro-wounds. These punctures are microscopic and do not damage the skin. Though superficial, the micro-wounds stimulate a ‘wound healing cascade.’ The body increases circulation, releases growth factors, creates more cells, and produces more collagen. The result is beautifully restored, naturally rejuvenated skin.

Numerous studies published in medical journals validate the safety and efficacy of Micro Needling. Some of the scientifically proven benefits of Micro Needling include plumper, more radiant skin as well as improvements to skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, brown spots & sun damage, stretch marks, skin laxity, enlarged pores, and dull, unhealthy looking skin.

In addition to stimulating a wound healing cascade, Micro Needling provides an excellent delivery system for topical serums. The small punctures created by the SkinPen act as micro-channels that facilitate the delivery of active ingredients into the deeper layers of the epidermis. This improves both the absorption and mechanism of action of these skin-benefiting ingredients.

Some of the most popular serums incorporated into Micro Needling treatment include Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP (commonly referred to as a Vampire Facial.) Recent medical advancements in the cosmetic use of PRP have fostered the development of PRF or Platelet Rich Fibrin. This improvement to the Vampire Facial increase the production of collagen, activates platelets and growth factors without the need for synthetic additives, and extends the activity of the blood cells from a couple hours to 14 days.

WHAT IS PRF?

PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin. It contains platelets and white blood cells that produce powerful growth factors that dramatically magnify the rejuvenating effects of the Microneedling procedure.

Prior to your Microneedling treatment, a small sample of blood is collected to prepare your PRF serum. The blood sample is slowly spun in a centrifuge, isolating the white blood cells and platelets to create a nutrient rich concentrate. During your Microneedling procedure, your physician will topically apply the PRF concentrate to the treatment area, allowing the nutrient rich serum to penetrate deep into the layers of your skin via the micro channels created by the SkinPen.

Scientists, published in the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery, explain the added benefit of supplementing your Microneedling treatment with PRF.  They explained, “Youth is in your blood…its power imposed in platelet factors.” They elaborate, Platelets “restore…natural beauty by starting the natural rejuvenation process of the skin.  [Platelet preparations] proved to promote wound healing and aid in facelift, volumetric skin, skin rejuvenation, regeneration, and reconstruction; improve wrinkling.”

These researchers, who evaluated the scores of literature on the benefits of platelet preparations in skin rejuvenation summarized, “The vast majority of studies examined show a significant and measurable effect on cellular changes, wound healing, and facial esthetic outcomes with use of platelet preparations.””⁴

Further research on the benefits of fibrin matrixes in platelet preparations can be found in the journal of Facial Plastic Surgery.  Researchers note that PRF provides “Additional features of the natural wound response include[ing] the presence of a fibrin matrix. Fibrin matrices have been shown to enhance the delivery of platelet growth factors.” They concluded that Platelet Rich Fibrin is a “simple-to-use, inexpensive, and all-natural treatment… [Which] is a major addition to the facial plastic surgery armamentarium.”⁵

In addition to the benefits of Microneedling, PRF can improve tear troughs and deep nasolabial folds, dark bags under the eyes, volume loss and brown spots on the face, neck, and chest (décolleté.)⁵

PRF VS PRP

The PRF facial is similar to a PRP facial (commonly known as a vampire facial.)However, some notable differences distinguish PRF from PRP. These differences make PRF the golden standard in natural skin rejuvenation.

PRF CONTAINS FIBRIN. PRP DOES NOT.

Both PRF and PRP contain platelets and growth factors that stimulate the repair and renewal of your skin. However, PRF also contains Fibrin. PRP does not. Fibrin provides scaffolding that supports the blood cells, activates clotting and promotes the activity of the blood cells, extending the release of growth factors. This is why the growth factors in PRF remain active for 14 days, allowing the skin to fully utilize all the healing properties of the rejuvenating serum. In contrast, PRP is only active for a couple hours once applied. In addition, Fibrin’s supportive networks play an essential role in the rebuilding of collagen and elastin.⁵

PRF PRESERVES VITAL NUTRIENTS

When preparing for a PRP facial, the blood sample is spun very fast. Consequently, many beneficial nutrients are lost in the process. In contrast, a PRF facial spins the blood sample slowly to preserve these delicate nutrients.

PRP CONTAINS ADDITIVES. PRF IS 100% NATURAL.

PRP artificially activates the platelets using additives such as thrombin and calcium chloride. In contrast, PRF does not use additives. This allows the fibrin found within your blood sample to create matrixes and activate the growth factors naturally. Free of synthetic chemicals, PRF is a 100% natural, autologous blood concentrate.

HOW MUCH DOES MICRONEEDLING COST?

Microneedling cost depends on several factors, including treatment area, the topical ingredients used in conjunction with the procedure, and the number of treatments needed to achieve the desired aesthetic.
